Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool: betting odds 14 Jan 2025

The Matchday 21 clash in the Premier League between Nottingham Forest and Liverpool will take place on January 14 at the City Ground. Nottingham Forest vs. Liverpool: prediction and betting odds, statistics.

Predicted lineups for Nottingham Forest vs. Liverpool

Nottingham Forest (4-2-3-1): Mats Sels – Ola Aina, Murillo, Nikola Milenkovic, Neco Williams – Elliot Anderson, Nicolas Dominguez – Callum Hudson-Odoi, Morgan Gibbs-White, Anthony Elanga – Chris Wood.

Liverpool (4-3-3): Alisson Becker – Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andrew Robertson, Ibrahima Konate – Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones – Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz.

The starting lineup for each team in their previous match in this tournament is listed.

Nottingham Forest

Nottingham started this year with a victory, defeating Wolverhampton 3-0 away. Notably, this marks their sixth consecutive win in the league, a feat they haven't achieved in the top English division since the 1966/67 season. Furthermore, the club has not conceded in four consecutive Premier League matches. With 40 points, Nuno Espírito Santo's side has caught up with second-placed Arsenal, trailing only due to an inferior goal difference.

Midfielder Ibrahim Sangaré is out due to injury.

  • Nottingham Forest's uncompromising streak in the Premier League stands at 13 matches (10 wins and 3 losses).
  • One of the teams failed to score in 7 of the club's last 9 Premier League games.
  • Nottingham has not conceded in the first half of their last seven home league matches.

Liverpool

Arne Slot's side played at home in the last round, drawing 2-2 with Manchester United. The draw ended a three-match winning streak in the league, during which Liverpool outscored their opponents 14-4. Meanwhile, their unbeaten run in the Premier League has extended to 15 matches (11 wins and 4 draws). The team continues to lead, holding a six-point advantage over their two closest rivals, with a game in hand.

Defenders Jarell Quansah and Joe Gomez are out due to injuries, and forward Darwin Nunez will miss the match due to suspension.

  • At least four goals have been scored in Liverpool's last six Premier League matches.
  • Both teams have scored in 5 of the Reds' last 6 Premier League games.
  • Liverpool has scored at least two goals in their last 12 league matches.

Nottingham Forest vs. Liverpool: Match Prediction

Nottingham inflicted the only defeat on Liverpool in the current league season, beating them 1-0 away. This match is also likely to have a low goal count. Like Liverpool, Nottingham Forest has conceded only 19 goals. Nuno Espírito Santo's side has defeated many opponents this season thanks to excellent defensive play and high conversion of chances. This strategy has proven effective, so don't expect it to change.

Despite the high scoring form shown by Arne Slot's side away from home, I believe they will have few opportunities to score in this match. Nottingham has conceded only 7 goals in nine home games this Premier League season, with three coming in the match against Newcastle. In the other home games, the team has not conceded more than one goal. Additionally, in 8 of Nottingham's last 9 home Premier League matches, spectators have not seen more than three goals.

My prediction – Total under 3

Betting tips 14 Jan 2025

Who would have thought that the upcoming clash would be the highlight of the 21st round of the Premier League? Yet, here it is—a reality. Let's not forget, Nottingham Forest handed Liverpool their only defeat (1:0) in the league so far. That result marked the beginning of their ascent.

Currently, Nottingham's players are brimming with confidence and are now capable of dictating the terms. Championship strugglers Luton Town, despite some early efforts, were brushed aside in the FA Cup almost effortlessly (2:0). In earlier matches, Nottingham Forest secured victories in a similar fashion: scoring and then defending their lead. This has resulted in five clean sheets and a winning streak lasting seven matches.

Meanwhile, the Merseysiders are not faring as well. In fact, they aren't on a winning streak at all. After triumphing over Accrington Stanley (4:0) in the FA Cup, they lost the first leg of the League Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur (0:1) and drew with Manchester United (2:2) in the 20th round of the Premier League. Considering Nottingham's virtually empty injury list (only Ibrahim Sangare sidelined since late summer), defeating such a motivated side seems extremely challenging.

At home, Nottingham Forest have won their last four fixtures, conceding just one goal, so at least a draw doesn't seem far-fetched for the hosts. Therefore, we are backing a double chance for them.
